Senior School Art

To help our students build on the skills and techniques they've already learnt in their Art lessons, we invited landscape artist Liz Cotgreave to the School to run a specialist two-day workshop.

Using charcoal, students from Years 7-12 were encouraged to get hands-on and use marks and textures to work experimentally, be expressive, welcome unexpected results and see what they reveal. Giving our students this open process of working is a great way to help them understand what captures their attention about the landscape they're working on and how they can explore the connections and feelings around it, allowing them to express it in their artwork.

Liz Cotgreave is a British charcoal artist who is interested in what the natural world means to us, the individual emotions it can evoke and finds inspiration by what can happen by accident. She runs regular workshops in and around Buckinghamshire and has had her work featured in numerous exhibitions.
