On Thursday 18 December, Pipers Senior students set off on an action-packed festive trip to Munich, just in time for the Christmas break.

The team arrived at lunchtime and went to the art gallery (der alte Pinakothek) - one of the oldest and leading art galleries in Europe, with highlights including works from Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Durer.

The next day, the group started off with a walk to BMW World which showcased the latest BMW cars and motorbikes. The students gained great insight into the German brand’s approach to sustainability, innovation and technology. What followed was the Glockenspiel show in the main square in Munich and a walk round the old town. They even popped into the Hofbrauhaus to listen to traditional Bavarian music.

The action didn’t stop there as the afternoon involved seeing an exhibition at Munich University about the White Rose Student Movement during World War II which was based in Munich. They then went onto the Allianz Stadium to have a tour of the football stadium, buy some souvenirs and have dinner at a Christmas Market.

On their final day, the students visited the "Deutsches Museum" the world's biggest science and technology museum.  It was great to see the group particularly enjoy the exhibition on the history of musical instruments and Space. In the afternoon, they visited Nymphenberg Palace - the summer palace of the Bavarian Royal Family and where Ludwig II was christened.

An action-packed visit to this incredible city at a very special time of year.
