This June, our Pipers community came together for a thought-provoking Inter-Faith Week, celebrating the rich diversity of beliefs, traditions and perspectives that shape our School community. Through a dynamic programme of lessons, trips, workshops, guest speakers and interactive experiences, students from Pre-Prep all the way to Sixth Form were invited to explore faith, ask questions and reflect on the values that unite us.

Throughout the week, themes from a rich range of religions were thoughtfully embedded into the curriculum, with students engaging in a wide range of activities across subjects including Religious Studies, Music, English and Maths. Our students explored global faith practices by designing and costing pilgrimages to significant religious sites such as India and Makkah, while others took part in reflective Prayer Space sessions that encouraged mindfulness and personal reflection. Music lessons brought faith traditions to life through Gospel Choir singing rooted in Christianity and Nasheed, an Islamic hymn tradition. In English, students explored and created stories with moral and ethical messages, while other lessons introduced diverse belief systems, including the beliefs of the Mayans. Year 3 visited the Wycombe Mosque as part of their programme.

The students were also offered the opportunity to hear directly from a range of distinguished guest speakers representing different faith perspectives and professional experiences. We were delighted to welcome The Venerable Cassa Messervy, Archdeacon of Buckingham, who spoke about her leadership role supporting churches across the county and the importance of faith in community life. Hafsa Bashir, an educator and advocate for Inter-Faith Dialogue, shared her personal journey and emphasised the value of understanding and connection across different worldviews. Lisa Cowan of Soka Gakkai International (SGI-UK) introduced students to Buddhist practice, focusing on respect, dignity and the belief in everyone’s potential for growth. Sara Stevenson encouraged students to engage with life’s ‘big questions’, drawing on her background in philosophy and religion to explore themes of meaning, ethics and belief. Dr Arzhia Habibi delivered a talk to Years 10-12 about her Chapel at Somerville College, which cares about belonging, community, creating an inclusive space, global citizenship through diverse voices and their unique 'choral contemplation' services.

Pre-Prep also benefited from engaging and accessible sessions tailored to their level, including a “Grill a Vicar” question-and-answer session, where curiosity and open discussion were encouraged. They also welcomed Pipers parent, Mrs Jogiat, who offered an informative and relatable insight into Islam.

The week brought the whole School Community together through a series of shared events, including Inter-Faith assemblies that reflected on common values such as respect, compassion and understanding. An Inter-Faith panel provided a valuable opportunity for older students to hear different perspectives side by side and to ask thoughtful questions, while ongoing Prayer Space sessions created a calm and inclusive environment for reflection throughout the week.

Inter-Faith Week 2026 has been a meaningful and memorable experience for students and staff alike. The conversations sparked, questions asked and ideas explored will continue to shape our community long beyond the end of the week. We are incredibly grateful to our guest speakers and staff who made this week such a success, and we look forward to building on this important work in the future.
