Whole School Environment

As part of the vast variety of plant and wildlife within our School grounds, we have been proud to harvest a grand selection of apples from our Orchard to be used in different areas of the School.

Every year, our Pre-Prep students and Prep Gardening Club create their own apple juice. The apples are taken to Chiltern Ridge Apple pressers to make the juice, while our students come together to make the labels. These bottles are sold at our upcoming Christmas Fair and at various others points throughout the coming year. Throughout this new academic year, the Prep Gardening Club will be learning how to pasteurise, eventually making apple sauce.

For the whole School, our caterers Holroyd Howe will be using the apples for healthy desserts and Forest School and Forest Club will cook the apples in cinnamon for a delicious alternative snack. Our Food Preparation and Nutrition classes will also use the apples for their upcoming 'Apple Week' in September.

Further down the line, our Gardening Club will be planting more seeds to grow our Orchard.

With so much on offer on our site in the heart of the Chilterns, staff and students always like to find creative ways to use what we harvest, and within the variety of nature we have available on our doorstep, we are sometimes surprised by what we find!
