On Wednesday 3 June 2026, students from Pipers Corner School travelled to Cardiff to take part in the prestigious Young Enterprise National Finals.

This year, over 10,000 students formed more than 1,000 companies as part of the programme, with only thirteen teams progressing to represent regions across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar. Our team this year, Afternoon Seed, proudly represented the South-Central region with distinction.

In the lead-up to the event, the team demonstrated exceptional commitment and professionalism by submitting a detailed company report, a four-minute recorded presentation, a 30-second promotional video, and completing a virtual interview with judges. On the day itself, they set up an impressive trade stand, engaged confidently with mystery shoppers, generated sales and embraced a variety of activities with enthusiasm and professionalism.

One of the highlights of the day was the “Apprentice: You’re Hired!” competition activity, hosted by Young Enterprise alumna and former Apprentice contestant Mia Collins. This fast-paced and dynamic event pushed students to think on their feet as they answered increasingly challenging questions about their business. Lilou R represented Afternoon Seed superbly, advancing to the semi-final stage as one of the final four students out of twenty-one competitors. She impressed judges with her confident and articulate responses on maintaining exceptional customer service and clearly explaining how Afternoon Seed’s product solves a real-world problem.

The day concluded with a celebratory awards ceremony, where Afternoon Seed achieved further success by winning the Best Promotional Video Award. Filmed in the Headmistress garden, the video was praised for its originality and effective use of customer testimonials, with judges commenting that it would not have looked out of place during a daytime television advert break.

This has truly been a standout year for Young Enterprise at Pipers. Huge congratulations to the Afternoon Seed team for their remarkable achievements and thank you to everyone who supported them along the way.
