Pre-Prep and Prep Music

The Theatre was transformed into a vibrant celebration of creativity as our Pre‑Prep and Prep students came together for this year’s Spring Concert, The Carnival of the Animals. This event brought together Music, Drama and Visual Arts in a joyful, cross‑curricular showcase, with performances and artwork all inspired by the wonders of the animal kingdom.

In the lead‑up to the concert, the theme also provided a rich springboard for listening activities in class, where students explored Camille Saint‑Saëns’ famous musical suite The Carnival of the Animals. These sessions helped them deepen their understanding of musical storytelling, instrumentation and characterisation.

Every student played an instrument, presenting an eclectic repertoire drawn from a range of styles, cultures and traditions around the World. From whole‑class instrumental ensembles to the “drumming in the dark” sequence, complete with glow drumsticks and UV lighting, the concert was a joy to watch. Our students’ love of singing shone brightly too, as they performed several songs ranging from The Jungle Book and folk tunes to some of Pre‑Prep’s much‑loved animal‑themed favourites.

The evening was a true celebration of confidence, resilience and a great attitude to learning, reflecting the students’ passion for the creative arts and the pride they take in their achievements.

A huge well done and congratulations to all our performers for a memorable concert. You can see more pictures in the Flickr album below.
