Prep Year 6

The Year 6 Charity Challenge is one of the highlights of the Prep department calendar. Every student in the year group is an important part of this social event and this year the event continued the tradition of young leaders putting themselves out there to raise an extraordinary amount of money their wonderful chosen charity - Electric Umbrella. The School and the students themselves are proud to be early-adopters of the charity, choosing them back in September 2024, before their meteoric rise on Britain's Got Talent.

The sun shone on the evening, as the students welcomed their parents for this evening of fun. Drinks were served by the "Waiting" students outside the Arts Centre, before parents had a chance to buy home grown plants and shrubs, and enter the bottle tombola  - those winning alcohol were under strict instructions to take it home!

Guests were welcomed into the Arts Centre Café for the most active and engaging game of bingo any of the adults had experienced. A wonderful array of home-cooked savoury and sweet delectables, created by the students under the expert guidance of Mr Urquhart (Head of Prep), were served and diners were treated to a variety of musical performances to book end a high-stakes auction. It was clear to see that parents were under the influence of...their children, when items such a Harry Potter Jelly Bean dispenser (and an extraordinary box of beans to be fair) outshone the incredible designer coats, handbags, painting and pamper vouchers. That said, with thanks to the enthusiasm of the children and the support of parents, local business and Prep staff alike, £2,362 was raised for the charity.

We were utterly thrilled to welcome Claire Boulter from the charity, who enthusiastically engaged in the evening, and spoke passionately about the work the charity does empowering learning disabled and neurodivergent people through creativity and connection. We are excited to welcome Claire and the charity back in a few weeks to perform for our students in the Pre-Prep and Prep departments.
