Each year, on 29 April, dancers and dance enthusiasts around the globe unite to celebrate International Dance Day. Created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), a partner for the performing arts of UNESCO, this annual event honours the birthdate of Jean-Georges Noverre, born in 1727, often referred to as the "Father of Modern Ballet." The day serves to promote dance as a universal language, transcending cultural and political barriers to foster unity through movement and artistic expression.

At Pipers, the spirit of dance is alive and thriving. The School's inclusive approach ensures that all students, regardless of their previous experience, are encouraged to pursue their passion for dance. Dance not only builds self-confidence but also fosters the development of collaborative skills and creativity, supporting students' holistic growth.

Our dance program at Pipers offers an incredible variety of styles, catering to different interests and talents. From Ballet and Modern to Contemporary, Street, Jazz, and Tap, students have a wealth of options to explore. This diversity is reflected in the School's Junior and Senior Dance companies, where students regularly meet for rehearsals that culminate in the Annual Dance Show, a flagship performance that showcases their hard work and dedication.

This annual event is held in Pipers' state-of-the-art theatre, providing students with the opportunity to gain experience in various aspects of production. Beyond performing on stage, they can also participate in choreography, production design and stage management, working collaboratively with professional theatre technicians and drama staff. This hands-on approach enriches their understanding of the performing arts and builds valuable skills for future endeavours.

In addition to these opportunities, Pipers offers students the chance to work towards externally assessed RAD and ISTD accredited awards, which can pave the way for further studies in dance at universities and performing arts colleges. A number of alumnae have pursued such paths, demonstrating the strong foundation that Pipers' dance program provides.

The School's facilities include two purpose-built dance spaces: a Dance Studio featuring a Harlequin dance floor and an Upper Foyer with a sprung floor, ensuring that students have the best environment to practice and hone their craft.

Pipers is proud to celebrate the art of dance and the vibrant community that has grown within its walls. Through dedication and creativity, students at Pipers continue to inspire and be inspired by this timeless art form.
