Girls in Year 2 have been learning all about The Great Fire of London as part of their History topic work this week.

Through a range of cross-curricular activities the girls have been considering where and when The Great Fire took place, why the Great Fire happened, who Samuel Pepys was, and how London changed after the event.

As part of their work the girls wrote their own diary entries in which they imagined they were living in London at the time of the Fire and managed to escape. All the girls thoroughly enjoyed staining their entries with tea to make the paper look authentic!

In their art lessons the girls painted burning houses and created collage characters to resemble the people from the time.

Had of EYFS and KS1, Miss Holloway said, “The girls in Year 2 have had a great week investigating The Great Fire of London. Incorporating practical tasks into their learning has really helped to consolidate their knowledge of this important time in British history.”
