In early December two groups of Pipers girls took to the airwaves when they hosted live radio broadcasts on Radio Christmas.

Radio Christmas is a charity radio station, run by volunteers and based in Amersham. The station aims to raise awareness of “Street Kids Direct”, a charity which raise funds to alleviate the suffering of street children in South America.

In October Pipers’ girls were invited to participate in a competition to be selected to represent Pipers Corner on the shows. They had to write a letter outlining why they would be the best choice of DJ.

Winners were selected from the Prep Department and the Senior School and each group had the chance to broadcast for an hour live on air. Their programmes included a selection of Christmas songs, poems and recordings from girls along with lots of festive conversation.

Head of Prep Drama and Outreach Drama Coordinator, Ms Bevan said “It was an amazing opportunity for the girls to help raise money and awareness for such a worthwhile cause. The girls did a fantastic job and we are looking forward to doing this again in the future.”

If you would like to listen to the programmes you can listen again from the Radio Christmas website - http://radiochristmas.co.uk/index.php/radio/listen-again-to-radio-christmas.  Prep girls were on Day 2 at 1300 hours and Senior girls were live on Day 8 at 1300 hours.
