‘ To forget the Holocaust, is to kill twice.’

One of our Sixth Form students Emily F led a service and the planting of several trees in the Quiet Garden with a plaque beneath that reads ‘ To forget the Holocaust, is to kill twice.’

Emily visited Auschwitz last year. She found the trip to be life-changing.  This experience and the seminars she attended organised by the ‘Lessons From Auschwitz’ Project, made her want to do as much as possible to spread awareness. She has gone on to create a library display, an assembly (for Years 9-13), a memorial service and a video pack (for Years 7 and 8). Finally, she came up with the idea for a remembrance service and the planting of trees.

These trees are intended as a visible symbol that hatred and prejudice cannot rule us and a reminder that life is precious. Emily's hope is that a tree will be planted every year on this date.
