We are delighted to announce that Pipers has been named as a finalist for the Independent School of the Year Award for Environmental Achievement, a recognition that speaks volumes about our commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

The Independent School of the Year Awards are not just about celebrating academic achievements but also about showcasing how schools have fostered excellence and enhanced their students' growth and development in specific aspects of school life. As such we are incredibly proud to be recognised for our holistic approach to the environment and sustainability and how this commitment is exemplified through our many environmental initiatives.

HOPE | Helping Others Protect the Environment: At the heart of Pipers Corner School's environmental endeavours is HOPE, a highly active student-run environment group.

OUTREACH | We regularly collaborate with neighbouring schools, sharing valuable insights into environmental conservation.

TEACHING | Teachers across subjects and age groups are encouraged to incorporate environmental and sustainability topics into their curriculum.

SUSTAINABILITY | Including programs to reduce paper and energy consumption, bird monitoring (in partnership with the RSPB), and the creation of a British Wildflower Meadow to support bees and other pollinating insects.

ANNUAL EVENTS | To reinforce the importance of individual and collective responsibility, events such as Green Week and World Earth Week as well as age specific Environmental Conferences, bring together students from Pipers and local state schools to engage in meaningful discussions about environmental issues.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY | Our 'Eco Pledge Scheme' and ‘Green Christmas Programme,' build connections with parents and guardians.

GUEST SPEAKERS | Renowned environmentalists, authors, and TV presenters are regularly invited to give talks and lead flagship school events, to expose students to diverse perspectives on environmental issues.

GARDENING CLUB AND FOREST SCHOOLS | We nurture a vibrant Gardening club and a well-established Forest School, both of which are utilised by the wider community, further extending the positive impact of these programs.

AWARDS | We are proud to have received several prestigious awards, including the 2023 Green World Award for Conservation and Biodiversity, the 2023 Green World Ambassador Award for Helping Others to Help the Environment, and the 2022 Green Apple Environment Award for Sustainability in Education and Training, among others.
