Art Pre-Prep and Prep

This term, Lower Sixth Art students are learning about viewpoints and exploring the many different ways we can look at the world around us.  As part the project the girls will be considering the following viewpoints: microscopic, underwater, worm’s eye view, eye level, bird’s eye view, multi view, psychological and macroscopic.

To start the project the girls have taken inspiration from specialist micro image artists such as Terry Winters and David Mann, who used microscopic images to create close up pieces of art.

The girls themselves looked through microscopes at various different objects such as onion cells, petals and leaves to view the intricate designs of these objects close up. They took photos of what they could see and created sketches to highlight the tone, colour and patterns they saw on the slides.  The girls are now using their photos and sketches to produce a larger painting or drawing which will encapsulate a different type of “view”.
