What our girls say
|
We asked our UIII (Year 6) girls to tell us what life was like at Pipers Corner. Below is a selection of what they wrote.
Sophie
"Life at Pipers is great because there is so much to do! There are lots of clubs to go to and to try out such as swimming, netball, tennis, drama and much more!
There are great facilities and lots of things to play on at break time. At Pipers there are four Houses, Milton, Hampden, Mandeville and Penn. Occasionally the Houses do fun things to raise money. They do things like House days, cake sales, sponsored swims and much more!
We have a 25 metre pool; which everyone really enjoys swimming in! In P.E lessons we learn, netball, gymnastics, fitness and lacrosse.
The lessons are really good fun, we learn a lot and the teachers are really friendly! The lunches at Pipers are very tasty and I love the puddings!
We have a sports day every year and everyone looks forward to that!
I hope I have told you enough about Pipers Corner and hopefully we will see you at our school one day!"

"At Pipers Corner we have lots of opportunities and these are some of them …
At Pipers Corner we have lots of really fun trips like Collage Lake, London Synagogue and Reading Museum. At Collage Lake we went on treasure hunts. We found time capsules as the treasure. We had to unlock the capsule and inside there were model dinosaurs.
At Reading Museum we learnt about the Victorians. We played Victorian games and we went into a Victorian school room.
At the Synagogue we went in the synagogue, dressed up and watched a video about Passover. We also had a chance to write some Hebrew letters which was really fun.
Also at Pipers Corner we have House fun days where different Houses (Hampden, Mandeville, Penn or Milton) set up fun activities like pin the tail on the donkey or they do bring and buy sales.
At Pipers there is also a wide range of clubs. There are clubs to help you with subjects like booster maths club or clubs to go to for fun like games club. At the maths booster club you are helped with things you are struggling with and at games club you just play games like cat and mouse.
We sometimes have church trips where some people get confirmed. At other church trips the Junior Choir sing. At Pipers we have a wide variety of lessons too. The lessons we have in Year 6 are Maths, English, Science, Swimming, P.E., Food Technology or Design Technology, R.S, History, Drama, French, Dance, Music, P.S.E, Reading, Geography, I.C.T and Art. These lessons are always great fun as the teachers try to make lessons as fun as possible.
At Pipers we have very many performances like drama productions and singing concerts sung by the Junior Choir.
We also have singing competitions for the Junior Choir. Every time we come back with a trophy or a medal.
In the spring time we have little bunnies hopping around Pipers Corner School and we have birds sitting at the bird table and the ducks from the pond come and have some food.
Life at Pipers is really fun and I find all of my subjects very enjoyable."

"Life at Pipers Corner is great fun because we go on lots of fun school trips, help look after visitors, have fun as well as learning in lessons and get to watch and participate in school productions.
In my first year at Pipers, I did so much. I decided to play the saxophone, do extra drama, and join the netball team and lots more.
Pipers gave me lots of encouragement and opportunities and now I am on Grade 3 singing and on my saxophone. They also gave the opportunity to take my confirmation
I have been on lots of school trips at Pipers including:
- Hampton Court Palace
- Reading Museum
- London Synagogue
- College Lake
- Some people from year 6 are going to PGL
Each year the 4 Houses: Hampden, Mandeville, Penn and Milton, pick two charities to support through out the year. I'm in Milton and we raise money by selling glow sticks on Bonfire Night, the Milton Fun Day and an Easter Egg Hunt. There are also lots of other activities like cake sales through out the year run by different classes for different charities.
There are also lots of fun clubs to do like Junior Christian Union, Puzzle club, Swimming Clubs and Junior Choir which is compulsory for years 3-6.
Life at Pipers is educational but fun."

"Pipers Corner is a wonderful school with a lovely touch and feel to it and best of all lots and lots of opportunities to grab.
- Every Wednesday we go to the choir practice
- We have at least four sports lessons a week
- We have cake sales
Pipers Corner School has always had team spirit as we all support one another 100% in every move we make and that's why we have an amazing team.
I have only just joined Pipers Corner and I have enjoyed every move I've made. It is a very friendly school and everybody has been so nice to me from the moment I've arrived. Now I think I'm going to stay here till I'm 18, because there is a sixth form.
Pipers also has a lot of amazing facilities such as:
- A huge pool
- Mats for gymnastics
- Netball and tennis courts
- Great teachers and learning
The lunches are also amazing with a salad bar, sandwich bar and the hot-meal section.
So if you are thinking of sending your daughter to a new school, pop down to Pipers and have a look. It's a worth a try, because Pipers will give everybody a warm welcome.

"I've been at Pipers for three years now and have loved every day of it!
The lessons are amazing; I love my history lessons because Mrs. Doran makes everything come alive. We are so lucky to have our drama lessons with our teacher Ms. Halton.
Here at Pipers there is a wide range of clubs you can do like: Netball, Lacrosse, Swimming, Design tech club and loads more. You can even have private music lessons. I play the drums and my drum teacher Mr McNulty is really nice and has taught me so much and is very skilled in playing the drums and the guitar. It isn't just instruments, you can also have singing lessons which are great. There is also LAMDA exams (London Academy of Music, Dance and Art).
We have so many trips like: Reading Museum, Wildlife Centre, Aqua Splash, Activity Centre and loads more; also at the end of this year the year 6s get to go on the PGL trip.
Our school does lots of productions like Animal Farm, The Boyfriend and every year the Year 6 does a play.
Our facilities are great. We have a huge swimming pool, lots of tennis courts, netball courts, a lacrosse pitch, the adventure playground, a gym, a fitness suite and still more.
I love being at Pipers and I'm glad to be staying here until the Sixth Form."

"Pipers Corner is the best school I have ever been to; it's like one big happy family. All the girls are really nice and caring. To me school is like a second home.
At school we are split up into four Houses Penn, Mandeville, Milton and Hamden. In our Houses we pick different charities we wish to support. Currently Penn is supporting The Dogs Trust and Stoke Mandeville Special Care Baby Unit.
To raise money for the charities we hold events to make money. Penn day was on March 14th; there were lots of mini events including candle decorating, bring and buy sale, how many sweets in the jar and pin the tail on the dog. Penn day was a great success and we raised lots of money for our charities.
At Pipers we have lots of clubs that we can attend such as Junior Choir. Junior Choir is run by Mrs Moss and Mr Lloyd, who teach us songs so we can enter competitions. There are also some other fun clubs at school like: LAMDA, ballet, netball and swimming which we do after school.
I think we are very lucky to have all these things, which is why I love Pipers Corner School."

"Life at Pipers Corner is exiting, enjoyable and fun. We have four Houses Mandeville, Penn, Milton and Hampden. They all support two charities - like Penn supporting The Dogs Trust and the Stoke Mandeville Special Care Baby Unit.
Since I've been here I've been in swimming galas and got to be Head of Prep.
In our fundraisers we have cake sales, a talent show, and games such as sweets in the jar and House days. In Prep Department the Head of House organises a fun day. We have fun events like treasure hunts and pin the tail on the donkey.
In the Prep Department there is a variety of clubs but the most important is Junior Choir. Junior Choir is for the Prep girls to learn songs for festivals like Marlow. In the Marlow Festival we came first and in the Watford Festival we came second. In music we can choose an instrument if we would like.
Junior Choir isn't the only club there are much more like games club, challenge club, prep orchestra and a Junior band.
In each lesson we learn something new and to make out education so fun teachers let us go on trips.
If you are looking for a school, send your daughter to Pipers Corner."

"I have been at this school for 7 ½ years now.
At Pipers, there are lots of fun lessons like swimming, dance and lots more. We also do core subjects of Maths, English and Science.
I have private violin lessons with my teacher, Mrs Hembrough, and I am working towards my Grade 3. Every year, Mr Lloyd (the Director of Music) organises a "Play Day" for everyone to come, try an instrument of any kind, have a dance with Ms Hartley, who is our Dance teacher, and listen to a performance by some of the pupils. Mr Lloyd always enters the Junior Choir for festivals. They are so much fun to do and we always come back with a medal or trophy!
The school grounds are spread out and every bit of it is beautiful. The teachers are all kind and help you if you need help. There is an adventure playground and some swings to play on. Nearer the spring, little baby ducks and rabbits are playing around the pond or field. There are always these three ducks, which always come out for a stroll making a lot of noise!
At school, everybody is kind, helpful and friendly, including the teachers. This school is a very happy environment to be in.
There are lots of clubs to join, like:
- Puzzle club
- Junior orchestra
- And loads more!
Our blazers have an eagle on it with a note that says:
“Sicut Aquilae Surgent” and our school motto is:
“They will rise on wings like eagles” and that's where the eagle comes from!”
