What our girls say
|
We asked our UIII (Year 6) girls to tell us what life was like at Pipers Corner. Below is a selection of what they wrote.
Lizzy
Hi I'm Lizzy, here at Pipers where I have spent six long and happy years, the school grounds are divine and very well kept by the gardeners. We have two ponds one which has two ducks that annually have ducklings! We also have many trees here and lots of lawn to play on!
Here are all the buildings we have here at Pipers: the language suite, the Cottesloe, the Senior School, the building that they are building and it will be finished in Summer 2009, Prep and Pre-Prep.
In the languages suite the languages we learn are, in Prep, French and in Senior School French, Spanish or German.
In the Cottesloe we do drama and dance. In dance we do ballet, modern, jazz and character. Also each year in senior school they do a play or musical where anyone from senior school can join in - you don't even need to have lessons in drama!
The senior school is where the seniors have their lessons and the Preps have art, sometimes maths and sometimes English there too.
Prep is for the seven to eleven year olds and Pre-Prep is for ages from three years three months to six years. Every day we have eight lessons, we start school at 8:30 and finish at 4:00. We have to be at school by 8:30, have registration at 8:45, assembly at 8:55, lessons start at 9:05. At 11:05 lessons end and short break starts and lasts until 11:25. At 12:30 it is lunch time and lunch break, then we have another registration at 1:45 and at 4:00 lessons finish for the day!
After school you can go to a variety of clubs depending on the day for example: swimming, netball, athletics, dance or day girls prep where you can do your homework.
If your parents are away on business and you have no babysitter you can board at Pipers whether for a night, a week or for a term!
We also have lots of school trips and visitors like John Harris the storyteller and various other people who come to do assemblies. Each year we have about four school trips and in senior school they even go skiing!
Pipers is a wonderful school to learn at I hope I will see you here soon!
Emma
Hello, I'm Emma and this is my third year in the Prep Department and I love it here and hopefully you will too.
First I will tell you about the grounds at Pipers because they are stunning. We have a vast area for sports here, and we also have lots of space for playing outside as well. Everywhere you look, you will see life. So Pipers Corner is truly beautiful.
At Pipers you will get opportunities for basically anything you would like to learn as you will see around the school. We have a building just for acting, dance and technology. Pipers also have maths and English departments. And in Prep we have our beautiful and colourful classrooms.
At Pipers we have great teachers who in Prep teach more than one subject, but in the senior school the teachers tend to specialise in one subject each. Also we have a number of gardeners and maintenances men, and without them our gardens would not look so pretty and the classrooms wouldn't have such new things in them, such as smart boards, the new lockers etc.
In Prep we have eight lessons a day which on average last forty minutes long. Also if you like dance that is great as it is one of our lessons, so you don't have to join a club to do dance. We have a short break at 11:05 and we have a lunch break at 12:35 and we finish school at 4:00 unless you have a club after school.
Pipers have a wide range of clubs and activities such as sports, dance, art, technology, challenges and many more. After school we have day girls prep which is where you after school if you want to if you don't have a club. This is one every day after school except Friday.
Preps and seniors go on exiting trips for lessons of Geography, History, English, and R.S. Also on Wednesday Prep do junior choir at lunch time which is contemporary.
I love Prep and I hope you do too.
