A diverse range of clubs and activities had long been central to life at Pipers and has a vital part to play in the development of each girl as a well-rounded individual. With a large selection of lunch-time and after school clubs and activities to choose from, girls are encouraged to discover their own interests in sports, technology, travel and outdoor pursuits, performing and creative arts, health and science.

They are few activities that we cannot accommodate and the steady influx of new ideas – from staff and girls – ensures that there is always a variety of exciting options.

Groups and clubs
From gym to technology there are lots of clubs taking place at lunch time and after school for Senior School girls to join. Some examples of current clubs are:

  • Gym club
  • ECDL club
  • Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
  • Jazz band
  • Extra Spanish
  • Reading group
  • Lacrosse
  • Swimming Club
  • Netball
  • ICT Club
  • Extra speech and drama
  • Badminton
  • Senior Vocal Group
  • Rotary Young Chef's club
  • Pottery
  • Photography Club

School trips
Girls in all parts of the school enjoy a variety of educational visits – skiing trips, visits to Normandy and historical sites, to name but a few. We believe that these experiences really enhance their understanding and broaden their horizons. Read about our school trips to see where we've been recently.

Community links and charity work
Thousands of pounds are raised each year for a variety of local, national and international charities. Sometimes the cause may be one that has touched an individual girl's life and it becomes a personal initiative; at other times, a charity is sponsored by one of the four houses or perhaps by a particular form. Harvest baskets are delivered in the community each autumn and the annual senior citizens' party is a very special afternoon. Girls assist teachers at a local primary school and are involved in services at Hughenden Parish Church.
