The whole school had the opportunity to come together as a community on Tuesday for a whole school assembly. Led by School Chaplain, Revd Mary Gurr, the theme of the event was "New Growth" and it provided an excellent opportunity for the girls to be consider and celebrate their hopes for the future as they grow up and move on to the next phases of their lives.

Towards the end of term girls in Year 8 at Pipers took part in an interesting visit to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Popularly known as the "Neasden Temple", it is Europe's first traditional Hindu temple and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the origins and beliefs of Hinduism.

"ABBA-solutely" Fabulous - 28/03/12

The whole school was treated to an "ABBA-solutely" fantastic morning of music today at this year's Inter-House Music competition. Each House was tasked with putting together a programme of the music of ABBA. From "Dancing Queen" to "Mamma Mia", "The Winner Takes it All" and "I Have a Dream", all the hits were there!

Pipers Girls went the extra mile for Sport Relief this year as fairies, farmers, ancient Greeks, a variety of animals and even a bottle of ketchup took to the school grounds to run, walk, crawl or skip a mile in aid of this very worthy cause.

Six lucky Year 6 girls had the opportunity to learn more about the Paralympic Games recently when they took part in the "Stoke Mandeville Experience". The event was organised by WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport and aimed to inspire the girls and give them with an insight into the many benefits of wheelchair sport for disabled children.

The curious world of wonderland emerged at Pipers last weekend as girls in Years 7-9 staged an imaginative production of "Alice the Musical". Containing elements from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There" the performances transported the audience into a fantasy world of childhood dreams.

For this year's ski trip the Pipers girls ventured, via coach, to the snowy slopes of Austria. As well as having the opportunity to hone their skiing skills there was also a chance for the girls to enjoy a range of excursions including an afternoon in Salzburg, a "ski safari" and the exhilarating experience of snow tubing.

The Pipers Corner School annual service of confirmation took place yesterday in the school chapel. The day was the culmination of three months of preparation undertaken by the girls. During that time they met weekly, after school, for a programme of teaching which was shared between Head of Religious Studies, Mrs Nicola Gledhill and the School Chaplain, Revd Mary Gurr.

Earlier this term, as part of their AS English Literature studies, a group of girls had the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Stephen Wraysford, the main protagonist in the Sebastian Faulks novel, "Birdsong" as he arrives in France, going first to elegant pre-war Amiens and then to the shock of the trenches of the Somme.

Pipers Corner History Department challenged girls to bring History to life this term with two competitions. Girls in Year 7 were set a task relating to Medieval Castles, whilst girls in Year 9 were brought into the Twentieth Century for their competition which centred on life during World War One.

As part of their celebrations for the Queen's Jubilee year, girls in Year one and Year two spent an exciting day at Windsor Castle last week. As well as visiting a special Jubilee exhibition of photographs of the Queen, the girls also had the chance to take part in a workshop looking at objects that were used in the castle during the reign of Queen Victoria – the only other English monarch to have celebrated a Diamond Jubilee.
