Sports' Day 2008 - 08/07/08

There was great excitement on Friday 4 July as Mandeville took the trophy as champions of Sports' Day 2008. There were some fantastic individual efforts as well as impressive all round team performances as all the girls demonstrated an amazing amount of House spirit.

It was a very close competition with the final result dependent on the results of the last few races, which made for an extremely nail-biting conclusion to the afternoon.

All the girls from Pre-Prep through to Sixth Form took part by competing in a variety of track and field events. The Pre-Prep girls held their own mini-Olympics with events including throwing the bean bag, skipping and running. All of the girls did very well and their results were included in the final overall total.

Girls in Prep and Senior School also put in a massive amount of effort as they competed in events including relays, long jump, shot putt and high jump. As well as putting lots of energy into their events the girls also made a huge amount of noise cheering each other along. There were lots of banners and mascots on show which added to the fun.

As well as the overall result two girls were rewarded for their fantastic individual efforts. Jessica Davies (UIV and Mandeville House) was awarded The Victor Ludorum Cup for winning the most House points on the day. Jessica managed an amazing 3 first places and also broke 2 school records. The runners up prize went to Bex Myers (LV and Mandeville House) who also achieved 3 first places but just missed out by taking 1 school record.

All in all it was a fantastic afternoon of sport, competition and fun!
