Girls in UII and LIII impressed this week as they performed some educational drama performances to their families and friends. Each group performed a piece about a serious theme in an entertaining and energetic way in order to get some important issues across to the audience.
The piece by UII was called "Only Joking" and was centred around the theme of bullying. It included some catchy songs which the girls sang with gusto and the performance itself was a dramatisation of two different ways to deal with bullying. On the one hand the girls showed what could happen if victims of bullying keep it to themselves. They then played out a contrasting view of what happens if the victim talks to their family or teacher about it. It was a very powerful and thought provoking performance from girls of such a young age.

The performance from LIII was equally impressive. Called "Layers", this play looked at the theme of the environment and how modern life is affecting nature. From things like littering, to pollution and acid rain the girls explored how human behaviour can really affect all living things and suggested things that could be done to stop the damage. For example not using cars as much and taking home crisp packets and other litter from outdoor picnics.

Drama teacher, Mrs Halton said, "I'm so proud of the girls and all the work they have put in to drama this year. They have all really grown as performers and should be very proud of what they have achieved."
