Celebration of Achievement - 17/07/08

The end of the school year at Pipers Corner was commemorated in style at the annual Parents' Day which was held on Saturday 12 July. It was a wonderful occasion and a fantastic opportunity for the whole school community to share together and celebrate the achievements of the girls.

Joined by their families, school Governors, teachers and invited guests, girls from Pre-Prep through to Sixth Form received recognition for their many achievements from the past year. Prizes were awarded for the effort and enthusiasm put into academic work, sporting activities, drama and musical performances.

Presenting the awards, Dr Jane Grant, Master-in-College at Eton, gave an entertaining address, beginning by jokingly questioning her own credibility to be present at an all girls school when she herself is part of an all male institution! She congratulated the girls on the atmosphere of the occasion and said "I am truly honoured to have been invited here today to present you with your awards. You should all be very proud of yourselves and each other."

Following the formal proceedings everyone was treated to tea and cakes on the lawn. There was also a champagne bar run by the Pipers Corner Fellowship and musical entertainment provided by the Pipers Jazz Band.

The spirit of the day was perhaps best summed up in the speech made by Head Girl, Sophie Barber who said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this brilliant school, my time at Pipers has been an unforgettable one and I wish the girls who are still to come through the school will take as much away from it as I have."
