Virtuoso Violinist visits Pipers - 08/12/08

Internationally acclaimed virtuoso violinist, Analiza Ching, delighted the girls in UIII (Year 6) at Pipers on Friday afternoon when she visited the school for a very special performance. Performing with a piano accompaniment and also along to backing tracks she impressed the girls with her obvious passion for music and her energetic routines.

An exciting new talent, Ching comes from Liuzhou in the Guangxiprovince of Southern China and was seriously classically trained from the age of four. Her father was her first violin teacher and she further studied the violin at Beijing Music Academy. Her mother, a professional dancer, taught Ching dancing. She has combined these two talents to produce a presentation of music that has enchanted audiences wherever she has played.

Ching arrived in England in July 2000 to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She now regularly performs in the UK and overseas and recent appearances have included features on Classical FM and Channel 4 as well as performances at the Albert Hall, Queen's Festival Hall and Theatre Royal Windsor.

Mr Lloyd, Musical Director at Pipers Corner said, "It was a thrilling experience for the girls to witness Ching's performance and I can't thank her enough for coming to school today. Seeing live performances really allows the girls to understand what it is like to have a passion for an instrument and understand the dedication and skill involved in becoming a professional musician."

As well as performing for the girls Ching also answered questions from the girls about what it is like performing to huge audiences and whether or not she still gets nervous!

During the final piece she encourage the girls to get up and dance along with her – something the girls clearly enjoyed!
