Girls in the Prep Department at Pipers Corner School took part in the very first Christmas Gifts Assembly today. The idea was for each girl to bring in a gift for a child who otherwise might not receive any presents this Christmas.

Before the Assembly all the girls were asked to think about the ideal Christmas and what they are looking forward to. They were then invited to buy a gift for a child, wrap it and label it to advise whether it is for a boy or a girl and of what age. The presents were then brought along to the Assembly and placed at the altar.

The girls in UII led the Assembly and encouraged the other girls to think about Advent and the significance of the giving of presents to celebrate the birth of Jesus. They talked about the importance of remembering children in this country and other countries who are less fortunate than themselves and how a simple act of kindness can make a really big impact.

The gifts collected by the girls will all now be distributed to children in the South Gloucestershire area via South Gloucestershire Social Care.
