32 swimmers from Pipers Corner School raised over £460 last week by taking part in a sponsored swim in aid of the charity "An African Dream".
In their allotted time of 30 minutes, each of the girls had to swim as many laps of the pool as they could. They all put in a fantastic effort, but special praise goes to Savannah Stott in Year 7 who managed an amazing 76 lengths! Year 6 pupils, Tilly Smith and Sophy Geddes and Josie Owen in Year 7 also managed an impressive 50 laps.
The girls, from one of the Houses at Pipers – Mandeville - have adopted “An African Dream” as their charity this year. The charity exists to support St Mark's Memorial Primary and Orphanage School in Uganda and the money raised will go towards the completion of the school's kitchen. They are hoping to raise lots more money over the coming months to help St Mark's get other things they desperately need such as desks, textbooks and pencils.

Head of House Mrs Melanie Collins said, "I'm really proud of all the girls who took part and impressed by the effort they put in to complete their laps. It was wonderful to see do many of them give up their lunchtime to raise money for a really good cause."
