At the end of the Spring Term, girls studying AS Drama and Theatre Studies and A2 Drama put on spectacular performances as part of their course assessment.
The eleven girls studying AS Drama and Theatre Studies worked in two groups to create their own theatre, drawing inspiration and influence from theatre productions they had seen. Miss Heather Andrew, Head of Drama said "Both groups engaged well with the audience and were very creative in multi-rolling a wide variety of characters."
The Upper 6 A2 Drama students performed scenes from two extremely exciting plays for Unit 4 of their examination. The plays were "The Ash Girl" by Timberlake Wertenbaker and "The Nativity" by David Farr.
As well as acting in the productions the girls also had to direct the performances themselves. The standard was extremely high with some excellent acting techniques and skills shown. The influence of their chosen practitioner, Brecht, was clearly evident and both productions provided a clear demonstration of the wide ranging abilities of the girls. Many of them are intending to go on to study Drama at University or Drama School. Miss Andrew said "I am very proud of how much the girls have achieved. Their work reflects great ensemble playing and the end result was a credit to them."
