Girls in Year 10 – Upper Sixth took to the stage on Monday evening to present Drama pieces they have prepared for their forthcoming LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) examinations.

LAMDA’s performance examinations use drama to develop self-confidence, physical presence and a strong speaking voice. All their examinations are rooted in encouraging participants to develop a love of literature, poetry and drama and thus improve standards of communication through the spoken word.

The girls who performed at the evening have been working hard throughout the academic year in their extra-curricular LAMDA lessons, selecting monologues or duologues to perform and honing their performance skills.

The girls presented extracts from a whole host of plays including:

  • “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde
  • “The Trojan Woman” by Euripides
  • “Pronoun” by Evan Placey
  • “Laughing Wild” by Christopher Durang
  • “Apart from George” by Nick Ward
  • “Blithe Spirit” by Noël Coward
  • “Pramkicker” by Sadie Hasler

Drama Teacher, Ms Bevan, said “We are incredibly proud of the girls and all the work they have put into their performances. To see how they have come on, both in terms of their performance skills and their general levels of self-confidence, over the course of the academic year has been an absolute joy. We are sure they will all do extremely well in the examinations themselves.”
