A group of Sixth Form girls welcomed boys from Harrow School to Pipers last night for a lively evening of debating. The motion was "This House would never choose to be led by a woman" and the debate generated enthusiastic and compelling arguments for and against the proposition.
The Pipers speakers were Gina Bryden and Hannah Wilce who each teamed up with one of the boys to present their arguments. Presiding over the debate was Lauren Whipp who acted as Chair. There was a chance to socialise over dinner before the debate itself which allowed time for the girls to get to know their speaking partners.

During the debate the two sides touched on a number of issues including what exactly constitutes a leader: is it necessarily the most visible person? Within their arguments they also used examples of CEOs of businesses, figures from education, Prime Ministers, other political figures and historical figures in order to emphasis their points.
It was an evening of animated banter, differing viewpoints and persuasive arguments which students from both schools thoroughly enjoyed.
