Pipers girls (as well as a number of parents!) danced the night away at the annual "Party at Pipers", held last Thursday evening. Hosted by Mr McNulty's guitar and drum pupils the audience enjoyed a variety of rock classics, old and new, as well as some softer guitar ballads.

Special guest band "Transient Few" kicked off the evening in style playing a mixture of covers and songs they had written themselves. Miss Carwardine, Science teacher at Pipers and guitarist and vocalist with the band, impressed the girls with her performance during the set which included "Because the Night" by Bruce Springsteen and "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas and the Papas.

With the audience suitably warmed up it was then the turn of the girls to demonstrate their talents. There were renditions from several groups as well as some solo items. Songs that the girls performed included:

• "Ruby" by The Kaiser Chiefs
• "Valerie" by The Zutons
• "I Wanna be a Rock Star" by Nickelback
• "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley
• "All the things that I've Done" by The Killers

The night was ended with a fantastic group performance of a 1971 classic "Stay with Me" by Faces.

Mr McNulty was justifiably proud of all the girls and said "A massive congratulations and thank you to all the girls who performed tonight. They've all worked incredibly hard and I'm really impressed by the way that everything has come together. It's because of their effort and dedication that they've managed to put on such a great gig for you all tonight."
