Year 9 visit to the Imperial War Museum - 27/01/10

On Wednesday 27 January girls in Year 9 (UIV) thoroughly made the most of a visit to the Imperial War Museum in London.

This trip was a cross-department experience, with opportunities to develop learning in History as well as in Religious Studies.

In the morning the girls explored the WW1 and WW2 galleries. They particularly gained from the Trench experience, which re-created the smells and sounds of trench warfare. In the afternoon the party split into two groups to attend education sessions on the Holocaust.

Head of Religious Studies, Mrs Gledhill said, "Following the visit, the girls have produced some outstanding follow-up work on the Holocaust, indicating that a better understanding was gained of this difficult period in history."
