In June 58 girls from Pipers were able to visit the spectacular site of Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire. Kenilworth has links to some major historical figures, most famously Robert Dudley and Queen Elizabeth I.

During the visit the girls went on a tour of the site, guided by a "Medieval Bowman" who explained to them about how Castles were defended and showed off his own skills by firing a cross bow and a long bow. They also had fun exploring the Keep and towers and the back slopes of the site.

All the girls thoroughly enjoyed looking round the Tudor part of the Castle, The Gatehouse, which has been restored and contains fully furnished historic rooms. There is also a new exhibition which houses major loans from museums and private collections and explores the relationship between Queen Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley.

History teacher, Mrs Stiles said, "We had a really super trip and I would like to express my thanks to the three parents who accompanied us and who helped the girls so much. On the day there were several fellow adult visitors who praised the girls for their interest, enthusiasm and courteous behaviour throughout the trip which made it a pleasure to be out with them."
