England v Jamaica - 24/02/09

Report by: Rebecca Richards (Sports Captain)

On Tuesday 24 February a group of enthusiastic Pipers Netball players ranging from MIV to U6 travelled up to Coventry to watch one of three International Netball Series matches with England playing Jamaica in the Skydome Arena! Girls were accompanied by staff including Netball Coach Chris Gould.

All were excited at the prospect of seeing such high standard netball which was also being broadcast on Sky Sport, and none were disappointed. Girls enjoyed trying to work out the complicated warm up drills the England netball team breezed through before the match hoping to try them out at practice. Another factor to "wow" girls was the height of the Jamaican goal shooter Romelda Aiken who was 6ft4 and simply dropped the ball into the net.

To everyone's pleasure England were constantly in the lead and won the match consisting of four 15 minute quarters finishing score 57:47.

Overall it was a high energy evening, giving everyone something to aim for in their netball playing future. Some of the girls managing to get autographs of the England players and look forward to watching England play again soon!
