Report by Emma Melis – MIV1
On Sunday afternoon girls from the boarding house along with some of the day girls set out on a trip to London to visit the London Dungeons.
When we first got to London it was lunchtime so we went to a Thai restaurant owned by one of the boarders' aunts and all enjoyed a really lovely meal.
Then it was time to go to the Dungeons. When we arrived, there were people standing outside who were actors dressed as characters from the past, but they were so authentic it all seemed so real. At first we were all really excited and also a little but scared as we were led into a room of mirrors which was extremely confusing as we tried to find our way through.
The Dungeons were split into sections and there was a different story at each stop and after the story it was re-enacted as if you were living through it. Two of the scariest stories were about Sweeney Todd and Jack the Ripper.
As well as scary stories we also learnt about other historical events and some of the awful things that happened years ago, like the Great Fire of London and the Plague. At the very end of the visit we all got to go on a ride called "Exremis: Drop ride to Doom" which was supposed to mimic what it would feel like to drop through a trapdoor as part of a hanging!
The trip was great fun even if parts of it were a little spooky. It was really lovely to spend time with friends.
