Girls from all years at Pipers put on their dancing shoes on Monday lunchtime to take part in a dance competition organised by Penn House to raise money for charity. Performing in front of a panel of judges there were a number of exciting and energetic solo and group performances.
After the main competition had finished and the judges were deliberating, the audience were treated to a very special performance from the Sixth Form Geography students and teacher, Mrs Collins, of a dance they had put together to Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" whilst on a field trip.
The panel, comprising of Ms Hadler, Ms Halton and Miss Snellgrove had the very difficult job of deciding which act to award prizes too but the top three results were as follows:
- 1st place: Jodie (LIV) for her solo dance. Commenting on her performance the panel said that Jodie had included some lovely choreography, with some excellent isolations and that she had used the space well.
- 2nd place: Sophie (MIV) for her solo dance. The judges praised Sophie portraying a fantastic amount of feeling through her dance in a very lyrical style.
- 3rd Place: The LV GCSE Dance Group. Comments from the judges included that the girls had made some lovely interesting shapes and that the choreography had been very involved.
The panel were impressed with all of the dancers, not only the eventual winners, and praised each of them for having the courage to get up on the stage to perform in front of an audience.
