On Sunday 6 December 19 people from Pipers took up the challenge to run in Santa's 5km Fun Run in Marlow. Mrs Derbyshire, Ms Cookson and Mrs Petty were joined by Sixth Formers, senior girls and their families as they dressed as Santa Claus in the race to raise money for the charity "Youth in Marlow".

The Sixth Formers who ran were Imogen Egan, Hannah Curzon, Hannah Wilson, Rebecca Webster and Catriona Pringle. Other runners from the Senior School were Leah Evans, Robyn Wimshurst, Rosie Ann Shelley and Felicity Flashman. The group were also joined by Mr and Mrs Egan, Mrs Dover, Mr Shelley and Rosie Ann's brother and sister and Ms Cookson's husband.

The weather was horrendous at 9am on Sunday morning with torrential rain; however, Santa was obviously looking after the runners as the rain clouds left and the sun came out just before the start. To enter the run you had to wear a Santa costume and as the staff, girls and their families took their places on the start line with the other 981 Santas it was a truly bizarre sight!

Everyone ran, or walked, to the best of their ability and all participants received a medal for completing the course. We were delighted that the winner of the overall race was Rosie Ann's brother, Alexander who ran 5km in 17.25 minutes! Overall the Pipers runners raised £360. Well done to everyone who took part and we look forward to more people joining us on our next running challenge.
