During the first two weeks of November in conjunction with students from the Royal Grammar School and Wycombe High School, Pipers girls in UIV and LV took part in the first stage of an exchange with students from the Ratsgymnasium in Osnabruck, Germany.

We were delighted to welcome some of the German girls to Pipers for the day. They attended lessons with the Pipers girls and were very impressed by the swimming pool and interactive white board! Their teacher was also in school and said she was particularly impressed by the teaching of drama, as well as the art and textile displays.

The German students spent the weekend with their host families and were taken to various places of interest, such as the Tower of London and the O2 arena.

During the second week of their stay, whilst their English partners were in school, the German group went on coach trips, twice to London, once to Oxford, and on their final day, to Birmingham which included a visit to Cadburys World.

It was a really exciting opportunity for the German students to experience life in an English family and for the Pipers girls to have the chance to practise their German language skills. All the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to making the return visit to Germany next April.

Gaby Sims who is in Year 9 (UIV) and taking part in the exchange wrote "The German exchange is an amazing experience! You get so close o your partner and my partner even said that I was her new sister! I have really enjoyed having Dorina in my home and I have loved telling her everything about myself and this country. Now I can't wait to go to Germany."

Rose Hynard, who is in Year 10 (LV) wrote, "My partner Jenny and I had a lot of fun together while she was in England. On the Sunday we went to a concert to see many artists, I think she enjoyed seeing and hearing some artists who they don't have in Germany. We had a lot in common and spent most nights on the computer watching "youtube", with us both learning about different music. I can't wait for when we go to Germany in April, I'll be happy if it was half as fun! Es war sehr toll, und ich mag deutsch musik.
