On Monday this week the girls at Pipers Corner were in for a surprise when a new Headmistress took morning assembly! Having taken part in a charity raffle to win the coveted title of Head for a day, LIV pupil, Megan (12), was really excited to see what life was really like as a Headmistress.
Taking on the responsibilities of Mrs Ness-Gifford, Megan's day was taken up with meetings with the Bursar and Marketing Manager, a tour of the new building and the chance to look in on lessons. Below is Megan's account of her experiences:

"My day as being the Head was a day to remember, I had so many things to sign, letters to write and pictures to choose for the Pipers Post. I never realised how much Mrs Ness-Gifford has to do every day, which may I just note is a lot. I couldn't believe that I had my own in-tray, which had lots of letters and magazines to look at and letters to reply to.

I had lunch in the Head's study with my friend, Eve and afterwards we walked around the school and visited the Spinney (Sixth Form Centre). I don't think Eve will ever forget the day either as she looked as excited as I was when it was announced that I had won the raffle.
I loved every minute of being the Head, and I didn't want it to end, but unfortunately it did. I will remember it for the rest of my life."
The Head for a day raffle was organised by Upper Sixth girls at Pipers in aid of their chosen charity, The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.
