The entrepreneurial skills of girls in MIV (Year 8) were put to the test on Friday as they faced the Green Dragons. The girls had to pitch an innovative environmental product to the panel in the hope of being crowned best company.
The Green Dragons workshop, run by the company "Big Bang Boom", aims to teach students practical business skills and develop self-confidence, motivation and presentation abilities. It has been developed with the core goal of inspiring and motivating students about enterprise and the environment.
The girls were challenged to come up with an environmentally friendly product or business which they would have to pitch to the dragons at the end of the day. As part of the pitch the girls were required to make a prototype of their product, explain the materials and costs involved, explain how they would advertise it (including performing a TV advertisement) and also tell the Dragons why their product should be selected.

There were 12 companies in action including:
- Refash: A selection of girlie essentials made from recycled crisp and sweet wrappers.
- Ecoflip: Flip flops made from recycled tyres and sponge with the tag line "We'll never let the world flop with eco-flip"
- Natural: A new brand of recycled kitchen roll with 10% of profits going to charity
- Bambooniform: Clothing for schools made out of material made of bamboo fibres
- EcoSolar: The S Pod charging unit which used solar panels to enable you to recharge iPods and mobile phones.
After each company had delivered their pitch the Dragons agonised over which group deserved the accolade of best company and eventually decided that the pitch by "Bambooniform", run by Lucy, Emily, Rosie, Eleanor and Ellie, was the most innovative. Their idea to make clothes from bamboo fibres with buttons shaped like leaves along with their confident pitch to the Dragons impressed the panel immensely and the girls received a £40 prize for their efforts.

- "I loved it, it really is a great way to introduce us to the world of business and give us ideas on how to save the planet." Hannah
- "I think that today's event was amazing. Before, I didn't mind that much about global warming, but now I am determined to do more to help the environment." Zoe
