The entire school community from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form came together this morning to share in a whole school assembly outside on the lawn. With the sun gloriously beating down it was a chance for all the girls to give thanks for their surroundings and everything that they are lucky enough to have.
The theme of the assembly, led by School Chaplain, Rev Mary Gurr, was a celebration of God's creation with an emphasis on resources such as water which we need to conserve for future generations.
It began with a wonderful dance performance by 60 LIV (Year 7) girls on the theme of water. Choreographed by, Miss Hadler, the girls danced to the haunting and flowing tune "Waterlily pond" by Adam Bird

The theme of creation and being thankful for our world was carried through in the hymns chosen which included "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and "How Great Thou Art".
In her message Reverend Gurr challenged the girls to think about what they need to survive. Is it their iPods, laptops and other possessions or is it more simply water, food and warmth? Whilst it is lovely to have all these extras she reminded the girls that we must forget that the natural resources we take for granted need to be treasured and conserved as without them we wouldn't be able to exist.

With fantastic accompaniment from some of the school's talented musicians it was a chance for the girls to really celebrate the school community and reflect as they start to look ahead to the new challenges they will all be facing from September.
