Pipers Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Care - 07/05/08

A "Pink Mufti Day" for the whole school was organised by the Sixth Form girls at Pipers Corner on Wednesday 7 May. The aim of the day was to raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Care.

All girls were invited to come to School dressed in pink in return for a donation to the collection. They were also able to take advantage of a number of activities throughout the day. From cake and pink lemonade sales, to a jewellery stall and the sale of Breast Cancer Care ribbons and mobile charms – there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The girls also had the chance to have their nails painted (pink of course!) as well as the opportunity for friends to have group photos taken complete with a selection of pink accessories.

The highlight of the day for many of the girls was the result of a sponsorship drive to raise enough money so that the Music Director, Mr Lloyd, had to dress up as a fairy. The girls reached their £500 target and were delighted when Mr Lloyd appeared at assembly in full costume, complete with wand.

All in all it was a very successful day with estimates suggesting that the total raised for this fantastic cause will be well in excess of £1500. Well done to all the Sixth Formers involved in the organisation of the day and to all girls who donated and took part in the activities. Many thanks also to Mr Lloyd for agreeing to embarrass himself in order to raise a magnificent amount of money.
