On Thursday 8 October Pipers Corner School welcomed Lady Buckinghamshire, along with the Chairman of Buckinghamshire County Council, Mr Richard Pushman, the Chairman of Wycombe District Council, Cllr Alan Hill, and the Chairman of Hughenden Parish Council, Cllr Peggy Ewart, to the official opening of the Lady Buckinghamshire Studios.
The Studios, completed in time for the start of the academic year, bring together all the teaching facilities at Pipers for Art, Ceramics, Textiles, Design Technology, Food Technology and ICT. In a formal ceremony, Lady Buckinghamshire unveiled a plaque naming the building, before our guests embarked on a tour of our new facilities.
During the tour the group had the opportunity to see the new accommodation in use as they visited a number of lessons and spoke to the girls about how the new facilities were contributing to their learning.
As well housing as a state-of-the-art Catering classroom with a dedicated area for younger girls, the Lady Buckinghamshire Studios development contains new Textiles, Art and Ceramics studios, a new Prep Art, Science and Technology classroom, a new ICT laboratory, two new Sixth Form seminar rooms and a wonderful new Prep Library complete with wall mounted computers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lady Buckinghamshire thanked the School Governors and dedicated staff for all their hard work in ensuring that the building project was completed so successfully. She also praised the dedication of the architects and building contractors who worked tirelessly over the summer months to get the new facilities ready for the beginning of the academic year. Reflecting on the years to come she said "I do hope that the girls here at Pipers will enjoy the building and all that it offers to them. I trust that both they and their teachers will be inspired by their surroundings as they learn and grow."
