Music Play Day - 11/03/08

On Saturday 8 March Pipers Music Department hosted a fantastic day of music. With the chance to perform and try out new musical instruments, it was a great opportunity for our girls and their families to make music together!

Over the course of the day around 50 girls came to school to join in with the fun. Music teachers Mr Lloyd and Mrs Moss had certainly made sure there were lots of activities to keep everyone entertained and involved. The day began with an impressive performance from the Junior Choir of the songs from High School Musical. This was followed by lots of opportunities for girls to perform throughout the day and we were entertained by Junior and Senior musical performers as well as a dance performance from the group who will be performing in Energize! at the Wycombe Swan later in March. There was also a guitar workshop taken by guitar teacher Mr McNulty and Miss Carwardine, who is a member of a band called "Transient Few", performed one of her songs.

One of the highlights of the day was the musical instrument try out where the girls and their families had the chance to try out lots of instruments including violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, drums, guitar and even the hosepipe!

The day ended with an enthusiastic, if not technically perfect, scratch performance of the first part of the Vivaldi "Gloria"! Mr Lloyd said, "I'm delighted that so many girls joined in with the play day. Hopefully it's shown them what fun music can be and will encourage them to learn an instrument or join the choir."
