Grandparents' Tea Party - 19/10/09

Last Friday afternoon there was great excitement amongst Pre-Prep 2 girls as they held their first ever Grandparents' Tea Party. With invitations sent out and replies received, the girls and their teachers had spent the week planning, baking and making posters.

When the afternoon arrived and Daisy classroom was prepared, the Pre-Prep 2 girls did a wonderful job of hosting the tea party. They met their visitors at the door, showed them to their seats and served them with food and drink.

When the eating had finished the girls took it in turns to ask some pre-planned questions about what life was like when their grandparents were their age. The grandparents really enjoyed sharing their experiences with the girls who learnt a lot about their childhood. They have since made them into a book for the classroom.

The afternoon was rounded off by celebrating the birthday of one of the grandparents by singing "Happy Birthday" and clapping as she blew out a candle on a cake. Finally the girls gave the grandparents a tour of their classroom, proudly showing them the work they have been doing this term. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all!
