Budding Entrepreneurs Mean Business - 06/02/12

A group of 12 Pipers girls are showing that they have what it takes to succeed in business as their Young Enterprise Company goes from strength to strength. Called "Beso Beso", which is Spanish for "Kiss Kiss", the company promotes and sells an exciting range of lip glosses.

The main aim of the enthusiastic team behind the company is to ensure that their business becomes successful and profitable. Since its inception in the Autumn Term the girls have participated in a number of successful selling events including the School Christmas Fair, a stall at the Marlow Christmas Fair and most recently a stall at the Young Enterprise Trade Fair at the Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe.

Young Enterprise is the United Kingdom's largest business and enterprise education charity. Every year they help 250,000 young people learn about business and the world of work in the classroom under the guidance of volunteers from 3,500 companies. Through participating in the Company Programme, students develop their enterprise knowledge and understanding, skills and attributes in a business context.

Business Studies teacher, Mrs Fairweather said, "The girls started the company in September and have worked extremely hard to source their product and then market it. They had a stall at the Marlow Christmas Fair where they turned in a very good profit - despite the atrocious weather. I was very impressed with their proactive approach as they really engaged with the passers-by to draw them into their stall."

What the girls say:

"As a sales manager I have learnt many useful techniques for selling now and in later life! We've come together as a sales team and when people want to buy your product it's extremely exciting." Rachel, Sales Manager

"Although Ellen and I have found it quite a large responsibility to be Managing Directors, we have enjoyed putting the company together. Being part of Beso Beso has been an exciting and worthwhile experience." Natalie, Managing Director

"Being the Marketing Manager I have learnt that it is very important to get feedback from the customers and market you are selling to. I love the product we are selling and fully believe with it we can gain success. Young Enterprise gives you basic business skills that should be taught to everyone because it can help you to go on into the business world prepared." Cassie, Marketing Manager
