Upper Sixth girls at Pipers Corner School are celebrating 100% success in A Level examinations this week. With 92% of all results being at grades A*-C and just under a third of all results at the highest A* and A grades we are extremely proud of all the girls and their achievements.
In many subjects including English, History, Geography, Drama, French and Spanish all candidates achieved at least a grade C or above. In spite of the struggle for higher education places this year, girls have been successful in being offered places to study on a diverse selection of courses from Psychology to Biochemical Engineering, Law, History and Musical Theatre at a range of top Universities including Nottingham, Warwick, Loughborough, Leicester and UCL.
There were a number of notable individual achievements including:
- Amelia Dendy has been offered an academic scholarship from Reading University after she achieved an A* in Classical Civilisation and 2 As in Psychology and Religious Studies. In September Amelia will be going to Reading to study for a degree in Philosophy.
- Deputy Head Girl, Imogen Egan achieved 3 A grades in her subjects – Biology, French and History. In September she will be studying Law at Nottingham University. Imogen said, "I am so excited about my grades and can't wait to start my University course. I'm so happy I can't feel my knees!"
- Deputy Head girl, Alexandra Thomas-Davies received an added bonus with her results. On the strength of gaining the new top A* Grade in A Level Dance she has been offered an Academic Scholarship from De Montfort University where she will be embarking on a degree course in Performing Arts in September. Alexandra said, "I am delighted to have achieved an A* grade in Dance and really pleased that all my hard work has paid off. Receiving the offer of an Academic Scholarship was a complete, but very welcome, surprise and I'm really excited about what the future holds for me at De Montfort."
